Lessons day

Yesterday I had my meeting with Joe and John from the Riverside FSDO. They gave me the required test area for my test flight next month.

Had a look around the plane and chatted for a bit. They are nice guys and very accommodating.
I also spent a little time getting a full understanding of my Garmin data problem. It’s simple for Garmin to sort out if they ever get back to me. I could fix it by purchasing another US$500 data pack but I don’t see why I should have to.

They are capable of fixing it. They just have to want to.

That night I went with Vince to the Chapter 92 monthly meeting. That was fun. Afterward a few of the guys went to Denny’s to continue the discussions. That was even more fun.

Got back to the hotel just before midnight.
It was another fun day in the adventure.

Late morning I went to AIA flying school here on Chino airport for a lesson in local procedures. The instructor, Mike Hall, was a great guy, very helpful. We rang the briefer and told him what was happening and that we wanted to file a dummy plan for a test flight. He couldn’t have been more helpful. A really nice, helpful guy who went out of his way despite being very busy.

In the afternoon I went back to the hotel to relax a bit and also go do some shopping. Vicki needed a hair clip and I bought a pair of shoes.

Home tomorrow.

I live in New Zealand with my lovely wife Vicki along with our animals on a block of land in Helensville. Back in 1994 I had this crazy idea to build a plane. Since then its been a huge part of my life. My day job has varied over the years. I started out as a computer engineer and now I'm an airline pilot. You would think that would tire me of flying but airline flying isn't really flying. The small planes are fun and make me remember why I started flying in the first place. This blog is a demonstration of some of the crazy ideas that pop into my head from time to time. The way I see it, life is too short to not give these wild ideas a go. I don't mind if people think I'm crazy. I probably am.
